This morning I was riding my bike back home from the beach, along a very busy street. A person walking their dog frightened a family of ducks, and the Mom and her 9 kids were standing in the gutter.  The Mom hopped up, but the kids could not.

OK, time for a mitzvah.  I’m going to chase the ducklings and reunite the family, kinda like the Kardashians.  The problem is that these two-inch-high ducklings run faster and corner harder than I do. It took about 10 minutes and was exhausting but I got the family together again.  I turned, and walked back to my bike.

Then I hear cars honking. Yep – Mom and the ducklings hopped right back onto the street and were crossing it through heavy traffic to repeat the gutter hopping exercise on the far side. So, why exactly did the duck cross the road?
