Days and Confused

I’m at our local seafood store, smiling and chatting with the sales clerk.  I’ve been going to this store for over 20 years, and she’s been there as long as I can remember (which, coincidentally, was probably last Monday). Over those years, she’s been very nice and professional. I’ve been me.  I’m pretty sure that, when she goes home to her family, she simply says “Guess what he did today.”

In any case, I’m standing there and we’re exchanging pleasantries (she’s pleasant, I’m Larry. You be the judge.) I mention that I just came back in town yesterday (a Tuesday). Here is our exchange:

Me: “How you are doing today?”

Her: “Good.  Today is my Friday”.

Me: “Well, since I came back to town yesterday, I guess this is my Monday. But, I’m leaving town tomorrow, so that makes it also my Friday.  Hmm.  Since I will be back on Friday, I guess that means that Saturday is now my Monday.

“How the heck did that happen?”

Her: “Have a nice day.”

Obviously, I am days and confused.

Undoubtedly, when she went home she looked at her family and said: “Guess what he did today”.

  1. I have a feeling you are often the topic at the dinner table for a number of customer service workers.

      1. Actually, now that I think about it, there are probably enough of these folks to unionize!
