Twenty years. That’s how many years we have come to Sonoma County for vacation. Time has passed very quickly indeed. Still, every time that we start the drive up Highway 12 from Sonoma to Santa Rosa I still can’t believe how beautiful this place is and how lucky we are to be here.

Places have become familiar touchstones. Howarth Park, Olivers Market, Reader’s Books, Screaming Mimis, Still Light Pond, Sebastiani Theater, Safari West , San Francisco – all the adventures we’ve had.
You’ll note I didn’t mention wineries, in wine country no less. I’m pretty sure that this is a local crime but will let you decide the punishment. Perhaps more wine with friends?
And that’s the point of this post. More than anything else the twenty years are the people we call our friends here. The Maiers, the Girls and Cecile, the Harrises, Moavenis, Sharon, Marsha and Sara, Myrna n Ed, Sue – you’ve welcomed us into your homes, shared meals and many good glasses of wine.
I’d hoped to toast you all while we’re here, but that’s not going to happen. Drat – here we have a Shark Splat Ball for Stephen and Michael and no way to fling it against the wall (flinging is a thing here, just trust me on this one). And we wanted to compare notes about all the college experiences of Anahita, Alex and our now graduated daughter, all of whom are rolling their eyes at the thought.
Life got in the way – this will have to do. We’ll toast you from here. Raise a glass for us.
Thank you all.
