Mollie’s Cumin Corn

For all of you who think cooking takes a lot of training and know-how understand this: My daughter came up with this when she was about 10 years old and I have never been able to improve upon it.

No, she didn’t know what she was doing, but food is fun and you really can’t go wrong playing around with it, other than the occasionally poisoned guest (sorry, Thor).

This recipe is wonderful for any backyard summer party. Two ears of corn actually serves about 4-5 people.  You can make a bunch of these and stack them up on the grill.

Ingredients:

  • Corn  (two ears shown)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Cumin
  • Butter – a couple of tablespoons.
Cumin Corn ready for the grill

Recipe:

Put everything in aluminum foil. I tossed in some rosemary and a few zucchini but, again, that’s just playing with food.

Put it on the grill.  Depending on how hot – figure 10-15 minutes. Yes, you can check it.

That’s it.  Just don’t get too corny on me once you’ve tried this out.

  1. Where did you get that corn!? I haven’t seen good yellow corn in years at the market. The sweet and white corn you usually find in markets these these days is insipid.

    1. I believe in shopping local. For produce I got to Grower’s Ranch in Costa Mesa (www.growersranch.com). We should all be so lucky as to have a good local produce shop, even when it is a bit of a drive. Thanks for asking!
