When I retired, I had a certain checklist (or is that Czechlist?): Figure out how to manage my finances (√; See Retirement Financial Planning – An Idea); Invest my money (√); have a favorable market (√); have a whole lotta luck (√√). So far, so good.
On the investment side, I work with my broker Mike. He works for a big brokerage firm and pretty much drew the short straw when he was assigned me as a client. I’m pretty sure they give him combat pay.
In truth, he’s been great to work with, and I like the services that his firm provides. The only point that we differ on is international investments. Which is why I wasn’t completely surprised when they sent me an article entitled “Polish Your Retirement”.
I’m not sure what the Polish have to teach me, so I guess I’d better Czech up on that one. If my investments are a Turkey, I might go Hungary.
Mike – you’re right – All of these international schemes are all Greek to me.
